Jansen positive for return against Bodø/Glimt: “We assume the quarterfinals”

AZ will play the return match against Bodø/Glimt tomorrow evening in Alkmaar. At stake is a spot in the Conference League quarterfinals. AZ has to make up for a 2-1 deficit from the first leg and so trainer Pascal Jansen expects a ‘charged duel’ against the reigning champion of Norway.

After a series of eighteen matches unbeaten, AZ had to take three defeats in recent weeks. After the 2-1 in Norway, the elimination by Ajax in the cup and the painful home defeat against FC Twente last weekend, AZ is back on the ground. Jansen hopes that his team will soon be able to turn the tide again.

European elimination by the lesser-esteemed Bodø/Glimt may well give the season of the Alkmaarders a bad taste. However, Jansen sees it differently. According to the 49-year-old trainer, the Norwegians should not be taken lightly.

For Fredrik Midtsjø, the game against his compatriots will most likely come too early tomorrow. The midfielder was present at training today, but completed an individual program and does not appear to be fit enough to play. Furthermore, Jansen has a fit selection.

The return in the eighth final of the Conference League between AZ and Bodø/Glimt starts tomorrow at 6.45 pm. After this game, the reactions with those involved from AZ will be placed on this website.
