The municipality of Midden-Drenthe will postpone decision-making on the cutbacks for the ‘Ravine year’ 2026.

The reason for this is the spring memorandum of the cabinet. It states that municipalities will receive extra money in the coming years to be able to partly absorb previously announced cuts.

Midden-Drenthe is waiting for what that will mean for the municipality. The municipality expects to get more clarity about this in June.

Municipalities in the Netherlands will receive less money from the government next year. To cope with that, the municipality had presented a cutback proposal of 1.8 million euros to the city council.

“We follow the national developments and release again as soon as there is more clarity about the financial situation,” says Alderman Rieja Raven.
