He is a six -time Olympic champion and was knighted. In private, however, Chris Hoy has to fight again every day.
Chris Hoy was one of the best train cyclists. The sporty career of the 49-year-old, six-time Olympic champion was exceptional. He regularly delivered duels with competitors. But he has been fighting the greatest fight alone for two years.
Prostate cancer was found in his 2023. The disease is now in the final stage. In conversation with the “Sunday Times”, Hoy openly reported on his situation in December. He could no longer raise his seven -year -old daughter Chlose (read more about the insights here). The forecast of the doctors: two to four years of life.
In addition, another diagnosis is burdened by the family: Hoy’s wife Sarra Kemp suffers from an aggressive form of multiple sclerosis – an illness that affects the central nervous system. Together, Hoy and Kemp take up their two children Callum (10) and Chloe (7) – despite all health challenges.
Hoy last said: “We support each other when one of us is in trouble.” In addition, he explained in the interview: “When I am on the ground, it is strong and does not work. It helps me to change perspective and get me to feel better. If she doesn’t feel good, I try to build her up. It is rare that we are both suppressed at the same time – mostly it is just one of us. This is an unspoken rule.”
