After the name of Margriet van der Linden had fallen, it could of course only be better than expected: Paulien Cornelisse is the new jury member of De Slimste Mens, KRO-NCRV announced in a press release. She takes a seat next to the brand new presenter Herman van der Zandt, whose arrival was announced much longer ago.

Doubt

Paulien, known as a writer, is looking forward to it. “I really like that I can be a jury member of the smartest person and at the same time I actually don’t know what I am talking about, because it is a new adventure. The only thing I know so far is that the screen test was very nice. I thought. Well, and the makers of the program apparently too.”

There is only one thing she doubted very much about, she says in the press release. “I had some doubts about ‘the chair’, but it turns out to be better than expected.”

Iconic

Sandra Hilster, media director at KRO-NCRV, is happy with this choice. “The smartest person is an iconic program on Dutch television, we have also noticed this in recent months with all the speculation about the name of the new jury member. It kept our viewers and the media busy.”

She continues: “We are happy and very proud that, in addition to our great presenter Herman van der Zandt, we can now also welcome a fantastic new jury member.”

Smart and funny

Paulien is the right choice, she says. “Paulien is smart, funny, original and she can bow to a great general knowledge with a great sense of language. KRO-NCRV is proud that she said yes and we can’t imagine a better duo. We are really looking forward to the new season of the smartest person!”

The new season of De Slimste Mens can be seen at KRO-NCRV on NPO 1 from 1 September, at a new time: 9.30 p.m.
