In the first step of the licensing process, the German Football League (DFL) has not refused to play the game for the 2025/26 season for the 2025/26 season.
As the league association announced on Tuesday (April 22nd, 2025)However, some clubs have to meet conditions until the beginning of June in order to finally get the right to play in the event of sporting qualifications. Other applicants received the license under circulation or without restrictions. The clubs can make a complaint against these first decisions within a week.
As usual, the DFL did not say which clubs are affected by conditions or requirements.
Some clubs informed the outcome in the first step of the licensing process via their channels. For example, Bundesliga club VfL Bochum wrote that he received the license “depending on the ligaun without conditions and conditions”.
Exam “in the sense of an integral and fair competition”
In accordance with the statutes, DFL GmbH is the first instance. It checks financial, sporting, legal and personnel administrative criteria, as well as criteria in relation to stadiums, sustainability and the Virtual Bundesliga.
In its decisions, the licensing committee can issue requirements or conditions. In the case of a requirement, it is determined which requirements must be observed according to the license granted during the season. On the other hand, a condition should be met at a certain time before the new season so that a license can be issued.
One possible condition is, for example, to be able to prove up to a certain point in time, to find a certain amount of money in order to get the coming season.
Final decision in mid -June
The second decision of DFL GmbH is planned for the beginning of May. Subsequently, the clubs affected have five days to take a complaint again. Afterwards, the first meeting of the licensing committee takes place under the chairmanship of Jan-Christian Dreesen, who finally decides on second symptoms in mid-May. The final decision of the licensing committee on the possible fulfillment of conditions and the awarding of the licenses to these applicants is planned for mid -June.
