Where bystanders enjoyed the flames with a drink that flared up, extraordinary investigating officers (BOAs) and firefighters put an end to the party around an Easter fire on Kloosterweg in Emmer-Compascuum a little later. The municipality of Emmen allowed Easter fires within the municipality, but not in this place, a spokesperson said.
The fire brigade was called in by the municipality to end the Easter fire. And that caused the necessary grumbling with bystanders. The boas came to the fire just outside Emmer-Compascuum around 8.30 p.m. One of those present said: “Everything was safe, people enjoyed the Easter fire. The fire brigade advised to have it burned out in a controlled manner, but otherwise the fire brigade was decided. Then the fire brigade had to extinguish and that caused an enormous smoke development. The whole party was to the Philistines.”
The Drenthe Safety Region confirms that the fire has indeed been terminated by order of the municipality. According to the spokesperson, everything happened in a friendly atmosphere. As a precaution, the police were on the back watch, but intervention was not necessary. And the municipality of Emmen also confirms that image. “Bystanders were not happy, but the termination went without problems.”
According to the municipality, Emmer-Compascuum was an Easter fire for which no permit had been issued. “We had this Easter fire ended because it was an illegal Easter fire that was a short distance from surrounding homes. That did not meet the Easter fire for the safety guidelines that apply to all Easter fires,” reports the spokesperson for the municipality of Emmen.
The municipality is still considering any follow -up steps against the initiators of the Easter fire.
