As a “Bohemian Rhapsody” was knocked out by “Mamma Mia”
“Bohemian Rhapsody” is the biggest hit by Queen. At least if you measure the band’s songs afterwards how long and at what time they could be found in first place on the British charts.
At the end of 1975, the UK sales list was clearly cited by “Bohemian Rhapsody”. Until January 31, 1976, the opera -like song from the album “A Night at the Opera” took the pole position. Then ABBA struck.
Of all things, you will later have the queen track fled the Queen track for the title of a worldwide-marketed musical (including film adaptation).

Mama Mia, Let me go …
This is noteworthy mainly because in the Lyrics of “Bohemian Rhapsody”, poetry by Freddie Mercury, the lines “Oh Mama Mia, Mama Mia, Mama Mia, Let Me Go/Beazebub Has the Devil put aside for me, for me”.
As if Queen had already anticipated it.
Because, according to Brian May, the band wanted to avoid having to perform the difficult song as a playback on music shows such as “Top of the Pops”, they made a video for doctoral purposes. Since then, the video for “Bohemian Rhapsody” has been a milestone in music television.
The material was shot in the Eltree film studios in London in just four hours. There the band had previously tried for their tour.
The costs for the video, made in 1975, were only £ 4,500 – a real bargain, even for the situation at that time.
