As expected, the long-time Bundesliga manager Fredi Bobic will compete with Legia Warsaw. After final talks with the Polish record champion and his owner, the 53-year-old undertook a contract as Head of Football Operations. Legia had already presented a new sports director with Michal Zewlakow at the end of March.

In the future, Bobic should take care of the long-term strategy in the sporting area and the development of scouting processes and help with its experiences and international contacts at transfers. Zewlakow, on the other hand, is responsible for everyday decisions in relation to the professional team, for transfers and the coaching staff.

“The move to Legia Warsaw is a great honor and challenge for me. The club has great ambitions and I am ready to support the team in achieving further success. I see great potential here – both in the first team and in the youth teams. My goal is to develop the sporting department of the club, so that Legia will regularly be successful in Poland and internationally. And to build processes that serve the club for years, ”said Bobic.

Bobic was terminated by Hertha BSC in January 2023, after which there was a legal dispute between the two sides. Previously, the former striker had already worked as sports director at VfB Stuttgart and Eintracht Frankfurt. Legia, which recently failed in the Conference League quarter-finals at Chelsea FC, is said to have convinced Bobic with ambitious plans for the future, including one of the most modern training centers in Europe.
