FC Volendam promoted on Monday, after the absence of one season, to the Eredivisie again. Visiting Jong AZ won FC Volendam 0-1 and Alex Plat was the matchwinner. The born Volendammer really enjoyed all the festivities afterwards. “With a few beers,” says Plat. “I was one of the last.”
Trainer Rick Kruys was also not in bed early after the promotion. After returning to the fishing village, the selection was returned to a hero and went through Volendam with an open bus. “The images spoke for themselves. I was a quarter to four at home. But I wasn’t tired the next day, because you had such a good feeling.”
Train hard
The selection of Volendam has just trained hard in recent days. “We know that there is an important poster on the program,” says Kruys about the meeting with Excelsior. “Then we want to cash it in by taking the scale.”
The trainer can have a fully fit selection. Yet Kruys does not intend to deviate from the plan of the past weeks. Also, according to him, it is not yet the time to give minutes to players who have taken less action. “It will be a difficult game.”
