You can almost set the clock on it: every spring something new is to be expected from Daniël Lohues. Such as a new single or a new theater tour. This year it has become a new album: And so it is Gaon.
“At first it was intended that there would be a compilation album,” says the singer from Erica. “A new song had to come on that. We were in the studio and that went so beautiful. I had some more new songs, we also took it right away. That went crazy and before you knew it we had a whole album.”
Lohues’ cell phone appears to be a gold mine. “My phone is full of numbers that I have played myself, with head and tail and everything in between. We were so well attuned to each other with the band. I showed the songs and they immediately had the good vibe.”
That came when recording the number Light in the duust Well forward. “I played it once, the second time the boys played along. At the third time we recorded it right away and that version also ended up on the album.”
Although Lohues did not write the songs with the intention of making an album, he thinks they fit well together. “If you make something in a certain period, with certain people and instruments around you, I will notice that it always fits.”
The album can already be heard on Spotify and next week the first physical copies will enter the living rooms. “I have already put a few hundred signatures, so if all goes well it will soon come to the people’s homes.”
