Potential end positions

The first decisions in the Bundesliga are emerging, not only in the master question, but also in the table cellar. Five game days before the end, the candidates for the lowest three places emerged. But the teams above the line cannot still weigh themselves to safety. We look at the potential final placements of the clubs in the season finale. Who is it about what? We deal with the race for European places here.

At FC St. Pauli you would be happy if the Hamburgers would not be about anything this season. Because despite the happy last minute victory against the bottom of Kiel on Saturday (2-1) “it can still be tight,” emphasized outdoor rail player Philipp loyal to the game. “There are still five games now and we know what kind of remaining program we have.”
Leverkusen, Werder, Stuttgart, Frankfurt and Bochum are called the remaining opponents of the Braun-Weißen, for which arithmetical place is still 8th as well as 18th place. The lead over relegation rank 16 is a comfortable seven points. The FCSP will still collect points. On the last day of the match, a relegation thriller on the Millerntor against the Bochumer could still be seen. Compared to VfL as well as to Heidenheim, the neighborhood club has the more difficult remaining program after the average placement of the upcoming opponents. But St. Pauli recently showed up in the upward trend. In the design table of the last five games, 8th place is also ranked, tied with FC Bayern and ahead of Borussia Dortmund.
The Bochumers, on the other hand, do not have the momentum after four defeats in a row. “Talking about 15th place is unrealistic at the distance,” said coach Dieter Hecking after the 1-2 against Augsburg in view of the nine points behind St. Pauli and ten in Hoffenheim with a significantly weaker goal difference compared to both.
Theoretically, however, is even 13th place for the district club. However, four out of five games would have to be won and the opponents also play along. Union Berlin in 13th place is missing two points to make the direct descent into mathematically impossible. Hopping from VfL perspective: With St. Pauli and Heidenheim, there are still two direct competitors who stand above the line and that you could still intercept-theoretically. The view of Heckings is clearer, for which it is only about relegation.
Behind the Bochumers could make the first decision in the relegation battle on the Easter weekend. Theoretically and with enormous with the help of the competition, Holstein Kiel can even advance to 14th place, but the storks pound in Leipzig on Saturday and are also unlucky in the remote duels with St. Pauli and Hoffenheim, a direct relegation from the KSV would no longer be possible. In Kiel, too, the catch -up on Heidenheim or the relegation place must be taken into account.
Next, the FCH has the Bavaria in front of his chest, still has to go against Stuttgart and the strong Unioner and Werder and receive the direct competitor from Bochum. Jumping on the Brenz in these last five games no more than five points and would still reach the relegation and kept the upper hand against the second division team would crack a record set up by the HSV in 2014: the slightest number of points that has been sufficient since the introduction of the three-point rule in the Bundesliga (to the potential end positions in the battle for Europe).
