ZAmora (Spain), April 17th (askanews) – Ceremonies and commemorations in all of Spain during the Holy Week; The streets of the cities are invaded by costume processions with the various Confraternities that parade together with allegorical floats surmounted by statues of Jesus and the Virgin Mary to remember the passion, death and resurrection of Christ.
In Zamora, a small town of almost 60,000 inhabitants northwest of the countryin the autonomous community of Castile and Leòn, the Holy Week has lived as the culminating moment of the yearanxiously expected by its inhabitants, who follow her with passion and devotion; Many who live elsewhere return on purpose for the celebrations, which, as well as elsewhere in north of Spain, are pervaded by a severe and almost dismal atmosphere.
Only in this city there are 16 brotherhoods, some with several hundred members, and there are even waiting lists to enter to be part of it.
