Facebook sells, among other things, Uber drivers’ user accounts completely openly. Dozens of Facebook groups were identified in the recent US report, some of which already reveals the name of the group to focus on selling, buying and renting a different ride and food transport service.

Allows for abuse
In Finland, acting as a taxi driver requires meeting the requirements of Traficom.
-To accept rides through the Uber application, drivers must register as users and submit documents that prove that they meet all the requirements, Uber says.
However, unauthorized distribution of the driver account allows a person who has not passed the official taxi test may be in the wheel of a car ordered through the application, demonstrated his ability to drive or provided his criminal record.
For this reason, Uber asks its drivers every now and then to send selfies through its application. The image is compared to the verified profile image of the account, and if the images do not match, the company will take action.
In addition, drivers must accept the driver’s terms and conditions of the community, which, according to Uber, emphasize compliance, respectful behavior and safety.
The company says Iltalehti is working closely with the police.
– We have a 24 -hour security team that supports authorities, for example in terms of information requests.
Examples of Uber’s safety features
- Drivers are asked to take a selfie to ensure that the right person is behind the wheel.
- The passenger sees, among other things, the name of the driver’s name, photo and car registration number.
- All trips are monitored in real time with GPS.
- Passengers can share their journey information and route tracking to trusted contacts.
- Uber’s Rideecheck system utilizes GPS tracking and smartphone sensors to identify potential deviations, such as unexpected stops or potential collisions.
- Passengers can call or send messages to the driver through the application without revealing their personal contact information.
Wolt: Facial recognition technology
Food Transport Service Wolt’s Operating Director of Northern Europe Joel Järvinen tells Iltalehti that Wolt has a number of technological solutions to prevent abuse, such as sharing accounts. One of these is face recognition.
– We also regularly conduct random inspections to ensure that the messengers comply with the assignment agreement and the appropriate legislation, says Järvinen.
If Wolt detects abnormal activity on its platform, even with Uber, there is a security team that will investigate the matter in more detail.
– If there are abuse, we will decide on a partner who has broken the rules of the rules. If we suspect serious breaches, we will work closely with the authorities, such as the police, to investigate and keep our platform safe.
Wolt also has a digital uninvited channel through which any customer, sent or merchant can report suspicious abuse anonymously and confidentially.
