Some resentments remain for a lifetime. Chris Barron, singer of the band Spin Doctors, which briefly successful in the 1990s, can sing a song about it. In the current episode of the US podcast “Rolling Stone Music Now” Barron admits that he still has a problem with Pearl Jam.
Spin Doctors and Pearl Jam: What Haperte
Both bands were under contract with Epic Records in the early 1990s. In 1991 Pocket Full of Kryptonite, the debut album of the Spin Doctors, was published, including the Hit-Single Two Princes. Pearl Jam Ten published in the same year, which sold over 13 million times in the United States alone.
The problem from a Barron’s point of view: Epic Records fully focused on Pearl Jam, the spin doctors had a look in terms of label attention. Barron still hangs up today. “I still can’t hear Pearl Jam,” said Barron. “Nothing against people who like Pearl Jam, but I just can’t do it,” he admits.
Barron explains: “We came in one City,, and at that time Was there this small Newspapers,, so Local blades,, and I struck the on – and there was one all -side Advertisement for a Pearl–Jam–concert and the plate from Pearl Jam. And from the Spin Doctor no track. You gingle in the Record store – a big Pearl–Jam–Display and a only copy ours plate. It was for the Get crazy.“
Spin Doctors: A look at your career
The Spin Doctors had great success with their album “Pocket Full of Kryptonite”. In the US charts, the album reached 3rd place, even second in the UK. In Germany it climbed to 5th place. However, the successor “Turn It Upside Down” performed significantly weaker-later some publications no longer appeared in the charts. In 1999 the band dissolved for the time being, followed by a reunion later. For Pearl Jam, things went much better.
