Recommendations of the editorial team
At the beginning of 2025, Billy Nomates first returned with the musical soundtrack Mary and the Hyeanas, and finally with the announcement of Metalhorse, its new record, which will be released on May 16, and the first new songs. The 34-year-old is also on stage live, but this time is not alone: she is now accompanied by a permanent band-with bassist Mandy Clarke (The Go! Team) and drummer Liam Chapman (BMX Bandits).
From autumn, Billy Nomates will go on a European tour, where she will present her new pieces live in the band setup for the first time. We present the two concert dates in Germany in November 2025.

All new at a glance
Billy Nomates has just released the second single from her upcoming album Metalhorse with “Plans”. For the first time in her career, the record was recorded with a complete volume – a turning point for the nomates, which was previously known as a solo artist. The new song also shows a new facet of the British artist: airy, hopeful and more lively than her previous publications. With “Plans”, Billy Nomates, bourgeois Tor Maries, delivers a kind of love song to love itself – raw, but also playful and directly. She herself describes the track as “a ride on the fair at the end of the world”.
The singer says about the Lovesong worn by nostalgic 80s pop: “Since I get older and the world is a damn chaos, the idea of having fun or falling in love with someone is the ultimate rebellion, right?” Said Nomates via “Stereogum”. “Nowadays it just feels totally radical. And it seems to happen less and less the more complicated life. Things will only get worse, there is no point in breaking your head, but it is also fun to find in this two -minute bustle that we all have.”
“Plans” by Billy Nomates:
The new album Metalhorse will be released on May 16 via Invada Records, the label of Portishead’s Geoff Barrow, who already produced Nomates’ debut album Billy Nomates (2020). This was followed by the EP Emergency Telephone in 2021. With her cross-genre mix of post-punk, electronics and spoken Word, she quickly established herself in the British alternative scene. Metalhorse succeeds Cacti from 2023, to which the ME author Julia Lorenz gave a rating of 4.5 stars.
It was not clear for a long time whether there would be another plate of her. After an appearance at the Glastonbury Festival 2023, in which nomates played her backing tracks on the laptop as usual, she was heavily criticized on social media-her appearance was mocked as a “karaoke show”. In deeply hit, she announced that she no longer announced live shows, extinguished her Instagram account and even questioned Billy Nomates’s continued existence. In the meantime, however, your account is active again. And the tour is now coming up – presented by MusikExpress.
