Coalition parties PVV, VVD, NSC and BBB consulted all night at the Ministry of Finance on the Spring Memorandum. The parties have not yet reached an agreement. Prime Minister Dick Schoof arrived at the Ministry of Finance on Tuesday evening after 11 p.m., and was present at the negotiations for the rest of the night.
The negotiations started on Tuesday morning at 9:30 am and continued all day and night, except for the votes in the Lower House.
Negotiate
Nicolien van Vroonhoven of NSC and BBB’er Henk Vermeer said on Monday evening that last Tuesday had to be the last negotiation day. Tuesday in the course of the day it turned out that this would be difficult, because the parties did not even agree on how much money there is to distribute. Minister Eelco Heinen and the VVD are of strict leather, the other parties see more room.

Whether clarity has come about that question on Tuesday night is unclear. The only signals that came from the coalition parties were signals that a deal was not yet close. At 6.00 am the negotiators, which seems to indicate that they are not thinking that they are not ready for the time being. The question is whether they will break this Wednesday, or continue to negotiate until they get out of it together.
Expenditure
The Spring Memorandum that the parties are talking about is an adjustment of the current budget and an important preview of the expenditure in the budgets for 2026. In recent months, the cabinet moved just about all the problems to the Spring Memorandum. Then the government would come up with solutions. In addition, the parties also came up with wish lists – which increased the political weight of the financial decision -making time in the spring.

Minister Eelco Heinen (Finance, VVD) wants to finish the plans on Thursday. Due to Good Friday, the Council of Ministers is this week a day earlier, on Thursday.
