With a view to greening, the tile taxi will ride again from today to pick up tiles, vowels and retaining tires from residents of the municipality of Hoogeveen.
The tile taxi comes into action during the annual NK tile fuss in which an attempt is made to replace as many tiles as possible with green.
The Tegeltaxi is an initiative of the municipality of Hoogeveen, in order to ensure more biodiversity in the municipality. “In this way we hope to encourage people to get more greenery in the garden,” says Mark Beekelaar, who does the performance of the Tegeltaxi.
To get your tiles picked up, sign up via the website of the municipality. A maximum of 20 square meters of tiles can be collected per month, you can easily calculate this via the calculation tool on the site. “In exchange, you will receive a voucher worth 15 euros, which you can hand in to garden centers,” explains Beekelaar.
From Pesse to Elim, everyone in the municipality can register for the Tegeltaxi for free. The service is well appreciated by many, “people love it,” says Beekelaar.
Stones such as vowels are converted to 30 by 30 tiles. This is to achieve the highest possible score on the NK Tegelwip, which is used.
Even though they are just driving around again, there is already a rising line in that score. “Last year we picked up around 2400 tiles during the first round, today we will be picking up 3500,” says Beekelaar. A tile taxi also drives around in Assen.
