The fire brigade ran out large on Sunday morning due to a blazing house fire. The two residents of the affected home were taken to the hospital because they had inhaled smoke. According to resident Eelco Vonk, there was a lot of panic with the residents who were torn from their sleep by the fire. He himself woke up after it was hard on his door.
“We ran outside and helped other residents. There is also someone of 90 who doesn’t hear anything here, we dragged it out of bed. Everyone was panicking.” The damage to Vonk’s house is great: “It all seems to be not too bad, but everything smells of smoke and the water flows along the wall. Everything is broken.”
Roof over the head
Due to the fire, the residents of seven houses had to leave their house. They stayed with family or friends or in a hotel in recent days. According to Hans Kröger, director of Woningstichting Het Grootslag, the residents of four homes will soon be able to return home. “The whole thing should be cleaned well there.”
This does not apply to the other houses. There you have to find out how large the damage is and how long that will take. “It is now up to the insurer to ensure that residents have a roof over their heads. For the residents who cannot go back in the long term, we are going to look for replacement living space.”
