In Switzerland, two former Bundesliga professionals are fighting. So violent that someone is injured by the hand. The club is taciturn.
A tangible scandal has occurred in Swiss professional football. As the Swiss broadcaster RSI reports, first division team FC Lugano before the league game against FC St. Gallen led to a fight last weekend in training. The teammates Renato Steffen and Antonios Papadopoulos were involved.
The incident is said to have occurred at the end of a unit. At first there was a verbal argument – after the report, the argument developed into a physical wrangling with slaps. Trainer Mattia Croci-Torti step in person to separate the two players.
Lugano’s captain Steffen suffered a microfracture on the hand. What the trigger for the argument was is unclear. In any case, the sporting location at the club from Ticino is tense: the team only won eleven points from the past eleven league games and is currently in fifth place in the table – significantly behind expectations.
Upon request, the club management to RSI declared that the incident had been regulated internally. You do not want to announce any further details. In addition, the situation between the players involved was adjusted.
