Peter Jan Rens, the fallen showmaster who was a big A-star decades ago, is annoyed by the format of The Voice of Holland. “It looks like a TV show from Putin!”

According to Peter Jan Rens, it is a rough shame that The Voice of Holland returns to the tube. Not because RTL boss Peter van der Vorst is so rushed with it-the case against former band leader Jeroen Rietbergen is not even over-but because according to him the format is simply very wrong. And especially that red button …

Putin format

What exactly is Peter Jan’s objection? He tells in the New Revu: “Nice for him that he will be the presenter, but it is of course a terrible communist program. It could have been conceived by Putin.”

According to him, it is very much how the candidates are treated. “If someone is doing their best to sing nicely, there are four under -sagged coryfees in a chair for a judgment.”

Phone book

Singing talents are used hard by the elite of RTL, he thinks. “The candidates are involved in all kinds of business interests, they are banned from everything and the contract is as thick as a telephone book.”

Peter Jan Rens’s biggest problem? “That those jury members have a button to show their approval is debilic. You don’t do something like that. It reminds me of a button that Putin can press to explode an atomic bomb. I think it is crying, so insane.”
