Mayor, Aldermen and the Municipal Council of Best Requirements of Minister Faber a powerful and clear signal about the implementation of the Spreading Act. In a fire letter to the minister, the minister wants the minister to express its explicit support for the local authorities who have to implement the law of the central government. Best feels abandoned by the minister.
The letter refers to the disturbances at an information meeting that was invested by the municipality almost two weeks ago. It was restless both inside and outside the sports hall. It even got out of hand that the meeting had to be demolished prematurely. Among others, staff of the municipality of Best, among others, was threatened and a declaration was made by the municipal administration.
With the letter sent to Faber, the municipality emphasizes that it is implementing government policy, but also that it fits in favor of running serious safety risks. “This is no longer the case. Violence should not pay in our democratic constitutional state,” writes the municipal administration. It also criticizes MPs who call to go to demonstrations against the arrival of an asylum seekers’ center (AZC).
The municipality of Best now asks Faber to take its responsibility. “We hope that you have an eye and ear for our worries.” The minister is invited to come to Best: “You are very welcome.”

The letter was discussed during a council meeting of the municipality of Best. To prevent people who are not waiting for a large AZC who would disturb the meeting, the town hall for citizens was closed from six o’clock on Monday evening. There were fences around the building.
