A sketch was shown on April 12th in the US television show “Saturday Night Live”, in which Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and the “The White Lotus” actress were parodied. Sarah Sherman embodied Aimee Lou Wood’s series-series character Chelsea. And Kennedy Jr., played by Jon Hamm, said in the sketch: “I have this crazy idea: What if we removed the entire fluoride from the drinking water? What would that do with people’s teeth?” Then the camera waved to Sherman, who was strikingly wrong and with “Fluoride? What is it?” replied.
Wood reacted in several Instagram stories to the part of the show, which the British found “common and unpleasant”. “Yes, you can make fun of it – that’s what the show is about – but there has to be a smarter, more nuanced, less cheap way,” she added. The parody had “depressed” her and she found the representation of her figure “misogyny”.
Approval of the fans
The 31-year-old also shared the reactions of her followers: on the inside on her statement. So a person of the actress wrote in a message that she would agree and explained: “Everyone else in this parody was a political figure that was mocked. The only figure that was not political was Chelsea, and they clearly only made fun of your appearance and accent, which is extremely indecent and inappropriate!”
