Former German hockey player Marvin Tepper has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison in their home country.
Tepper, who played a total of 131 games in the German highest league level, the Del League for four seasons, was convicted of fraud. According to German media Tepper was involved in the fraud, where an 84-year-old woman was the victim.
Tepper was a participant in a group who sought to cheat on people with different telephone scams. The elderly were especially selected as the target group. According to the prosecutor, Tepper claimed to be a police officer who warned citizens of the cheat on the move. He persuaded his victims to give her home money and other valuables to her, to the “police” so she could deliver them to safety.
In Germany, where cash is still very popular, this form of scam is common, according to police.
After being caught, Tepper admitted that he was committing a crime. He said he was in need of money. He was cheated by the victim worth about € 20,000 in money, as well as an elderly credit card, which he was able to use before he was caught.
Police carried out a home search for Tepper’s home, finding more of the deceived property in the fraud.
Tepper’s repentance did not press much in the horizontal cup as he had a heavy criminal history. He was sentenced to 20 months’ imprisonment four years ago. The criminal record includes, among other things, disturbance behavior, numerous snaps and overlapping police.
Tepper, who played as an attacker, represented Germany at the national team level in junior age classes. The player’s career ended with the 2018-19 season, after which the downhill in life steepened.
