Thomas Müller will leave Bayern in summer. Now the club’s honorary chair has spoken about the Causa Müller.
In summer it is over: Thomas Müller will pack his things after the club World Cup and leave FC Bayern. The club in which he has played since childhood. After this had become known, many discussions started. Now Bayern veteran Uli Hoeneß has spoken out in an interview with the “Welt”.
Hoeneß said: “The first talks on Thomas gave the impression that one can imagine continuing with him. With this idea, Thomas then went into the concrete conversation with Max and our sports director Christoph Freund.”
And further: “And was surprised that the two – in consultation with all bodies of our club – brought this message to him. Thomas was not prepared for this. He expressed this in his statement, which can be understood.” The reason for this may have been statements by sports director Max Eberl from January.
In addition, Uli Hoeneß said: “Of course, something like this is always dependent on the sporting situation. That is why Max apologized and self -critically showed himself because of his statement in January. I always find it a sign of strength when someone admits mistakes. At the same time, you also have to take into account that Thomas was much more used in the preliminary round and the situation in January was already different.”
But why did Thomas Müller have to go in the end? His last contract is said to have had a volume of an annual salary of 20 million euros. No longer representable for FC Bayern, as Hoeneß also explained: “If the economic situation of FC Bayern was still as before, we say three years, the decision might have been different in the case of Müller.”
Uli Hoeneß goes into detail in the “world”: “FC Bayern has to save very clearly. There is not much more from our time deposit account.” That also means that you have to rethink and possibly have to take out a loan from a bank.
How Thomas Müller will continue is still unclear. For Uli Hoeneß it is only clear that Müller will work for Bayern again at some point. “Whenever we have spoken, I said Thomas: You know that we are very strong on you when it comes to the future of FC Bayern. In this respect, the topic of Thomas Müller is not closed for me at all.”
First of all, it is about saying goodbye. Hoeneß ‘wish: “I have dreamed that we win the final of the Champions League. And the Thomas scores the decisive goal. I would wish him from the heart. Sometimes dreams come true.”
