Berlin (dpa -AfX) – The negotiations of the Union and SPD on the future coalition threatened to fail in the final phase. “There were great moments. The past Monday was rather difficult when the coalition was on the brink,” said CDU/CSU parliamentary manager Thorsten Frei the “Tagesspiegel”. CDU, CSU and SPD had reached a final agreement in Wednesday and submitted their coalition agreement.
According to Frei, the future federal government wants to react flexibly to global political developments despite the stipulations of the coalition agreement. “We have firmly agreed not to stick to the coalition agreement slavishly if the world situation changes dramatically. All three parties know that we live in serious times,” said the CDU politician.
