Mark Hoppus published his memoirs on April 8 and tells, among other things, about a joint appearance of his band Blink-182 and Robert Smith. Because afterwards he tried to “deal with” with him.
As explained in “Fahrenheit-182”, the whole thing is said to have taken place at an after party in 2004. After Hoppus said goodbye, Smith probably tried to kiss him.
Almost smooched with his hero
The musician told “Us Weekly” more and revealed that he would not even have let Smith know in advance that he would tell of the situation in his book. However, this was “totally cool”. “I should have called or warn him or something, but I don’t know – how should you have such a conversation? ‘Hey, do you remember when you tried to get around with me?’ Because we never spoke to it, ”revealed Hoppus. “I’ve seen him a few times since then and it was totally cool and nobody talked about it.”
In retrospect, the now 53-year-old seems to have apparently not regretted not to have embarked on the kiss, because he explained: “He was my hero. I grew up to listen to his music and she changed my life forever. Then he tries to kiss me at a party, and I think: ‘I should have done that. Why not?’ It is a much better story to kiss me, and it was embarrassing.
Comeback from Blink-182
In “Fahrenheit-182” Hoppus also tells of his cancer. In 2021 the musician was diagnosed with the disease for the first time. Chemotherapy probably suffers from severe exhaustion and physical pain. Nevertheless, the disease brought friendships back-including that with the band co-founder Tom Delonge.
In the same year, Hoppus was declared cancer -free. Then Blink-182 came together again and published their comeback album one more time in 2023.
