Kai Kazmirek celebrated the greatest success of his career at the Olympic Games in Rio and the World Cup in London. Now he ends his career.
Kai Kazmirek was on the podium at World Championships, fought fourth in the Olympics-now it is over: the 34-year-old has ended his career as a decathlete. Kazmirek announced his decision on Instagram: “It is time to say goodbye!”, Wrote the former Athlete of the LG Rhein-Wied.
Kazmirek celebrated his greatest sporting success at the World Championships in London in 2017 when he won bronze. At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, he set up his personal best with 8,580 points and thus took fourth place.
Kazmirek looked back on over 15 years as a competitive athlete. During this time he met many special people and places. The experiences would have shaped him and made him the decathlon who he always wanted to be – an athlete who did not work up, process defeats and, above all, love what he is doing.
Now a new chapter begins for the police. At the end of May he will be father for the first time, Kazmirek announced. He also wanted to remain active as a youth coach.
