At less than 20 years, Luke Littler turns the darts of the darts upside down. The reigning world champion wants to break a significant record on Thursday.

Luke Littler is about to secure a special place in the history books in the Premier League Darts. The 18-year-old leads the table after nine match days and could set a new record in Manchester on Thursday evening. But it won’t be very easy – Gerwyn Price is waiting for an unpleasant opponent with Gerwyn Price.

Despite his defeat in the previous week against Chris Dobey (2: 6), the reigning world champion is clearly ahead of the competition with 26 points. Luke Humphries (20), Price (15) and Michael van Gerwen (13) follow by far.

Littler announced at “Sky Sports” that he wanted to win in Manchester as in the previous year. At the same time, he hopes to “get the fifth day of the day and break the record”.

Since the conversion of the tournament format in 2022 to a mini-KO tournament with eight participants per match day, no player has achieved more than four day victories in one season. Littler currently shares this record with van Gerwen, Humphries (both 2023), Jonny Clayton (2022), as well as Price and Michael Smith (both 2023).

For Littler, the evening begins with the duel against Price. In the past, the Welsh has proven to be a serious opponent for the young Englishman.

“Of course I would like to try to beat him,” said Littler, but emphasized that he did not want to put pressure on him: “I will simply go on stage with the same attitude, to win the first game and to bring two points to the advertisement.”

He was aware that Price “has the record and knows how he can beat me”. Nevertheless, he hopes to find a way to assert himself.
