De ME performed Charges on Wednesday evening against a group of about two hundred protesters, who protested against the arrival of 750 refugees to the municipality of Maashorst. The activists gathered at the Kruisheren Chapel in Uden, where an information evening took place. When the atmosphere became grim, the mayor decided to put an end to the demonstration for safety reasons.
The evening initially went fairly quietly, except for a few skirmishes. Some fires were set off and some activist lit torches. The police were on the move in large numbers to keep an eye on the situation. The atmosphere turned around nine. Four vans from the ME arrived, after which the ME pushed the crowd apart. In addition, a blow was distributed.
The activists threw with stones, bottles and cans. Heavy fireworks were also set off. Four or five people have been arrested.

Three hundred people were present in the Kruisheren Chapel to attend the meeting. Among them also many worried residents. The speakers were interrupted by BOE call and slogans. Proponents of the arrival of the refugees left early, they were disappointed and felt shame by the protest.
Three locations
The municipality of Maashorst informed the residents about the three locations that have been designated for the reception of the refugees. On the Boekelsedijk in Uden there will be a place for 500 residents, including around 300 asylum seekers. Around 250 residents will be located at the Repelakker expansion district in Zeeland and around 250 residents on Molenaarstraat in Schaijk.
There were various calls on Facebook to demonstrate against the arrival of asylum seekers.
In addition to refugees, starters and emergency seekers will live in the three places. The group of people who need urgent living space in Maashorst is larger than just refugees. That is why the municipality has broadened the search for space for reception locations for refugees.

The interest in the information evening about the arrival of the refugees is so great that a second information evening is held on April 16.
Chaos in heavy protests in Best
A week ago an information meeting about the arrival of a new AZC in Best completely got out of hand and the mayor was threatened. A group of seventy demonstrators tried several times to enter the sports hall where the consultation was, and violence was used.
