A 72-year-old man from Tilburg has to go into jail because he has sexually abused two children for years. He touched the girls in intimate places while they were playing or when he tutured them. That is why the former Biology teacher is given a prison sentence of 12 months, of which six months are conditional. The judge in Breda decided that on Wednesday.
One of the victims played on the street when the man abused her. He touched her in different places and he went with his hand in her underpants. The victim was six years old when the abuse began.
Girl was ashamed
According to the girl’s parents, the man and his wife were friends. The older couple even went with them to the Beekse Bergen. After this trip, the girl told her parents that the man had touched her ‘with her intimate parts’. “Our world collapsed,” father Robbert previously told Omroep Brabant. “She was ashamed and afraid we would get angry with her because it was a friend of ours.”
During the court case, Robbert announced in a penetrating way what impact the sexual abuse has had on the whole family. The former teacher should have understood that he crossed boundaries with his actions. During the session, the man took his responsibility for what he did, but he continued to deny that he touched the vagina and pubic area of the victims.
Robbert’s daughter was not the only victim. Another girl was also abused. That started when she was seven and continued until she was sixteen. At first it was while playing, but later even when she got tutoring from him. To prevent him from putting his hand in her pants, she wore tight pants and belt. She also moved away from him when he sat next to her. Yet he went on.
Car tires leaked
The neighborhood where the man lives is stucking out. Earlier his car tires were leaked and the word ‘pedo’ was blown on his door. Father Robbert likes to see the man leave. Although he knows that he will saddle others with it. The man has since indicated that he is moving.
For the time being he will not be at home anyway, because he has to go to the prison. On Wednesday, the judge sentenced him to a year in prison, of which six months conditional and a probationary period of two years. He was also banned from contact with the victims.
It has already been decided that the man will have to pay compensation of just over 20,000 euros per victim.
