In 2017 the Fyre Festival should take place before, on the Bahamas with numerous big acts and a lot of luxury. Ultimately, the event never occurred – at least never as planned. Billy McFarland has been wanting to bring his festival back for a long time.

So far, McFarland had announced the event for May 30th to June 2 of this year. What should only take place on the Isla Mujeres in Mexico was then moved to Playa del Carmen. Because the island’s tourist office had denied “being aware of this event or being in contact with a person or a company”. So the chaos starts again?

What happened so far

In order to prove that the festival should actually take place, McFarland now shared the course of the previous planning on Instagram. Various permits can also be found in it, which, however, only allow a multi-day listing party with 250 people on a closer look.

Accordingly, the Fyre “Festival” is to take place in the Martina Beach Club. No live appearances should be allowed and the music should only be played between midnight and four in the morning every day between May 30th and June 1st.

According to “Consequence”, the tickets that were previously sold via Soldout.com have now been removed. Before that, the prices should be between $ 1,400 and $ 25,000 (approximately 1,264.71 and 22,584.17 euros). Premium packages were allegedly offered for up to $ 1.1 million (approximately 993,703.53 euros).

The past event brought McFarland to prison

A look back: The first Fyre Festival 2017 went into history as one of the largest festival disaster. Instead of luxurious accommodations and world stars, visitors awaited: semi-finished tents on the inside, inedible food and a chaotic organization, giant music stars. What was advertised as a glamorous influencer event on the Bahamas ended as an absolute shit show.

Billy McFarland was then convicted of fraud. In several cases, he announced himself guilty after it turned out that the event was a large scam. He had investors and ticket buyers: Inside with false promises and a total of around $ 26 million appeared. For this he was sentenced to six years in prison. After only four years, however, he was released from custody early in May 2022.
