After Alexander Zverev, Jan-Lennard Struff is the second best German tennis player. But it will not be satisfied with its current form.

Next setback for Jan-Lennard Struff: The 34-year-old had to accept the next early defeat at the ATP Masters in Monte Carlo.

On Sunday, Struff was clearly 2: 6, 1: 6 in the first round Valentin Vacherot. The local hero is currently in 259th place in the world rankings, Struff on 48. Already at the Masters tournaments in Indian Wells and Miami, the Warsteiner had failed at its opening hurdle.

Struff found it difficult to get into the game and gave the first set after 25 minutes. Even in the second round, he hardly managed anything. A double error led to the break early – the 0: 2 was the preliminary decision. The encounter was over after 58 minutes. It was Struff’s sixth defeat in series.

From a German perspective, two players in Monte Carlo are still in the tournament: Daniel Altmaier, who played in the main field through qualifications, and Alexander Zverev. The Tokyo Olympic champion is number one in the principality and received a free time for the first round.
