Video: Daily topics reported in 1994 about Kurt Cobain’s death
It is not known whether “Tagemehemen” spokeswoman Sabine Christiansen was scared of the news herself, or whether she simply did not know the name of the prominent musician. “K-Kurt” she starts a bit and then speaks the name with “Coben” instead of cobain.
The editorial team was well informed about the importance of Kurt Cobain: Christiansen reports on the Nirvana singer as the “voice of a generation”, which was “looking for new values”.
“Hendrix went”
“Yesterday he killed himself through a head shot,” says the spokeswoman on April 8, 1994. The editorial team therefore assumed that Cobain had committed suicide on April 7th. As was later known, the singer had killed himself three days earlier, on April 5.
The purely cut ARD reporter, “on site in Washington”, reports of his auto-aggressive texts. “Now he has gone the way from Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison and Janis Joplin.”
Fans who are pilgrimed to Cobain’s house and are interviewed at the death of their idol are then shown: “It is a tragedy.”
Sabine Christiansen concludes with the words: “He was a very sensitive person. Good and intelligent. Not exactly the best qualities when you are a rock star”, quoting the Nirvana biographer Michael Azerrad.

The day after the birth of our daughter, he took a gun to the hospital. He was supposed to fly to England for the Reading Festival the next day. He said things like “I go. You are not the first to do it. I go. I held this thing in my hand and I had the feeling that there is talk of” Schindler’s list “: I will never know what happens to me afterwards. And what would Frances? Already a lot of brutal, not true: “Your parents? They died the day after your birth.”
I tried to talk him out. And he said: “Fuck you, you can’t just press. I do it.” But in the end he pulled out the pistol and Eric (Erlandson) did it. Kurt then went to some other room in the hospital, he had ordered a dealer. He almost died in the hospital. The dealer said she had never seen someone so dead. I said, “Why didn’t you get a sister? There are sisters everywhere.”
