Germany’s soccer players score four goals against Scotland – but above all, a joint defense campaign.

Shortly before the end, the winners have long been set for Germany in the Scottish Dundee at 4: 0, the ball is again in the German penalty area. Captain Giulia Gwinn throws herself in the shot of Erin Cuthbert, fends off him. The rebound ends up six meters in front of the gate at Lauren Davidson, she pulls off – and Ann -Katrin Berger still directs the ball on the crossbar.

It is this scene that Christian Wück emphasizes after the 4: 0 (2: 0) victory in Scotland in the Nations League. “You saw how everyone was happy”, said the soccer coach of the sports show. “This is an important point for us that we realize that we can play too zero when we all stick together.”

Elisa Senß (1st), Sophie Howard (21st, own goal), Cora Zicai (57.) and Lea Schüller (59.), the DFB team strengthened the table in the third game on Friday evening. On Tuesday (5:45 p.m.) there will be a second leg against Scotland in Wolfsburg to see live in the first and for the first time in the Kika children’s channel.

Sophia Kett debut

More stability – that was after the last weaker defensive performance Wück’s main desire for the game in Dundee. However, he had little choice in the defense because Kathrin Hendrich and Rebecca Knaak were injured and Sara Doorsoun was not yet fit enough for the starting eleven. Wück relied on Sophia Kleinhernen and Janina Minge in central defense and surprisingly helped the 20-year-old Munich woman Franziska Kett to the bottom left.

“We are satisfied”said Wück about kett. “There is still room for improvement. You have already noticed that she made one or two slight mistakes that she can make. But she was brave, tried to go forward and drove some counterattacks.” Kett himself said she was just happy. “At the debut directly in the starting eleven – you can’t want anything better, even with a 4: 0.”

Wück also spoke one “Big compliment to the complete defense” from, enthused by fight, cohesion and “How they thrown into the duels”. He is more happy about the zero than the three points.

Leadership after 55 seconds

The German team had a perfect start and scored after 55 seconds. After a flat, debutante Kett almost played on the 16 -played corner, almost gave it too. The ball landed again at Sense with the intermediate station Gwinn – and from the edge of the penalty area it hit it to the left upper corner.

However, the early goal did not give any security, instead the Scottishers determined the events. They won many duels and used the gaps in the German midfield. In the 20th minute they also came to a dangerous one, but Eilidh Adams headed next to the goal.

Germany of all people helps Germany

The goal then fell on the other side – and Scotland helped vigorously. After a counterattack on Linda Dallmann, Jule Brand fit flat from the right. Goalkeeper Lee Gibson could have taken the ball, but Sophie Howard graded in between and hit her own goal.

Howard of all people, you could say. The 31-year-old was born in Hanau and played for Hoffenheim and the German U20 national team. After two games for England’s U23, she made her debut for Scotland in 2017 – which she was allowed to do as a Scots’ granddaughter. Since then she has played 57 caps.

Many mistakes on bumpy lawn

Even with the two-goal lead in the back, the clearly favored German team remained behind his possibilities. National coach Wück seemed severely dissatisfied on the sidelines, gestured and called commands. Hardly any ideas on the offensive, gaps in the defensive midfield – reason to annoy Wück had enough.

“We had a lot of slight mistakes in the passing game and in the first contact because the lawn was pretty bumpy”, said Wück.

Another jokertor

At the second half, Wück Zicai brought into play for Klara Bühl – and, as recently, had a good hand in the 4-1 against Austria. Brand conquered the ball on the right twelve minutes after the restart, Dallmann drove the counterattack and served Zicai, who hit the right corner precisely from half -left. The 20 -year -old Freiburg woman scored for the second time in the third international match.

Just two minutes later, Schüller sprinted onto the Scottish goal alone after a press strike in the midfield and tunneled gatewoman Gibson to the next goal.

The game was decided, but remained cheerful with brave Scottish women. They deserved an honor goal – but Gwinn and Berger had something against it.
