A 19-year-old man caught Thursday evening while walking around the fair in Waalwijk with two knives. The police have arrested the man from Kaatsheuvel.
The police received several signals on Thursday that the atmosphere on and around the fair on the Unnaplein changed. Agents, enforcers and fairground operators therefore decided to pay extra attention.
In the evening, enforcers saw that a visitor had two knives with them. They took the man separately and warned the police. He then arrested the man for possession of weapons and took it to the police station. The weapons have been seized.
The man spent a night in jail and was interrogated on Friday morning. He is given an area ban.
The police, municipality and fairground operators will remain extra alert at the fair in the coming days.
