The municipality of Hoogeveen will investigate whether there is a game of money to support Scouting Hoogeveen. The association wants to renovate the log cabin in the Spaarbankbos for old age and asbestos in the roof, but does not have sufficient resources for this.

VVD, Gemeentebelangen, PvdA and GroenLinks request the municipal administration to find out if Hoogeveen can help financially somewhere. The parties do this by means of a motion.

The scouting is on its own two feet and cannot use municipal subsidies, the parties say. “And yet they have an important social role,” the proponents said. The request was supported in the council.

The scouting would be good for an extra pocket. A refurbished log cabin costs 120,000 euros. Half can pay the club itself, but otherwise a game has to be found.

However, comments were made with the plan. “Scouting is not the only association that may miss a subsidy. Which club will come next week?”, Annette Jansen (CDA) wondered aloud.

“Are there any more clubs that want a home?”, Harry Baalman (SP) supplemented. In the motion, the petitioners also request the municipal administration to find out how the current subsidy flows are arranged for sports and culture, for example.

“Scouting Hoogeveen and other associations or clubs fall between two stools,” said VVD member Wilco Kramer. “Can they not be involved in the subsidy flows in the future?”

Branders alderman Ronald Klok (VVD) said that there are some crochet and eyes on the proposal. According to him, the investigation can be carried out, but whether there can be help, there is nothing to be said about that for the time being.

However, he agreed that it is wise to take a closer look at the subsidy flows in the municipality. According to him, it is being worked on. In particular to see who could and who could not use it in the future.

The intention is that the municipal administration will return before the summer with answers to the council.
