Anyone who comes up with Marianne Wekema in Peize gets a warm welcome from five cheerful blading little goats. And those are not even the five who were born on Tuesday, because they are still sleeping against each other with their mother.
“It started April 1st around 8 p.m.. The first came soon, I helped it a little,” says Marianne. “After fifteen minutes, number two and a little later number three came. I thought:” Beautiful, ready “. Then I thought:” Not normal! “. And also all nicely healthy. Then she started pressing again and a fifth came after it.”
According to Marianne, it is very rare that a goat gives birth to five living lambs. This year it also happened with a goat in South Holland and at one in Friesland, but that is still not deposited on the total number of goats. In Peize they are three goats and two goats. They don’t have names yet, he can come up with the neighbor girl. They do become names that start with the C, just like mother Coco.
Marianne loves the lambs, ‘especially those with nice colors and spots’. The goats go back to the owner who has supplied the goat, the other two lambs stay on her farm. “It is pure hobby, it only costs money. I think this is great.”
