From the beginning, Mitch Kniat’s host team kept up with the opponent of Leverkusen playing the title of the German champion. It was quickly clear to the fans on the Bielefeld Alm: no two-class difference can be noticed here.

Standard variant Bayer brings the lead

And yet Bayer took the lead – with a rehearsed corner variant. Alex Grimaldo hit a corner from the left to the height of the first post, from where Amine Adli extended to the second post. What failed a few minutes earlier brought the lead this time. Tah ran into position on the right post and artistically used the pass to 1-0 (18th).

The home side showed a strong reaction. Because the Arminia stabbed less than two minutes later – also with a rehearsed variant: a long pass from Leon Schneider reached the enforcement Louis Oppie on the left. Its pass in the middle landed with Marius Wörl, who lay on the right foot and shot into the goal at the bottom right (20th). Jonathan Tah still falsified the ball minimally with the boot tip, so that Lukas Hradecky in the box of the Rhinelander stretched out in vain.

From then on, the favorite guests could not earn any advantages without the painfully missing Florian Wirtz. On the contrary: Hradecky parried strongly against Noah Sarenren Bazeee, who had ran solely on the Leverkusen Captain. But the end of the Bielefeld offensive man was simply too unplaced.

If goal chances, then for the Arminia

Xabi Alonsos Elf found no remedy against the Arminen, who continued to play at an absolute eye level, that continued to play and always remained dangerous. A free kick from defense boss Stefano Russo from the left corner of the penalty area went well over the Leverkusen Tor (41st).

When the fans seemed mentally to take a break, the Bielefeld struck again – and again Oppie delivered the assist: his sharp free kick from the left edge of the penalty area sailed on the right into the five -meter room, where Maximilian Große stormed to the ball with great will and brought him into the stitch with a long step. The Alm stood head.

Osmers has his hands full to do

In the second section of the game, the game became a cup fight: Piero Hincapie threw Sarenren Bazeee on the back of the head – an oversight, the impartial harm Osmers showed the Leverkusen defender yellow. Then the now substituted Victor Boniface picked up the warning because he hit tailors in a duel on his face. On the other hand, Joel Grodowski picked up the yellow card after a tactical foul. The game had arrived in the red speed range – but without starting or becoming particularly unfair.

The Arminen also pressed the next goal: The outstanding oppie stabbed the baseline, played back to the penalty point, where Grodowski was free to shot. But the regular striker shot himself when accepting direct acceptance, so that the ball collerred past the long post.

If Leverkusen became dangerous, then only with standards: A free kick from the left half field found the head of Nordi Mukiele, but the attempt was directed by goalkeeper Jonas Kersken around the post.

Bielefeld bites and survives the added time

In the final phase of the regular season, Leverkusen turned up – and the fans wondered: How long do the forces last at Arminia Bielefeld? The legs became difficult – what Jeremy Frimpong exploited and flanked a soulful ball on Patrik Schick in the storm center from the right wing. Defense was missing in this scene – and nobody would have been amazed at the equalization. But the Czech striker only hit the right outer post with his head.

Osmers had six minutes replayed – an infinite long time. But the Arminen mobilized their last grains – and fell into their arms under the almost limitless jubilation of the fans after the final whistle.

Bielefeld in the promotion struggle

Already next Saturday the East Westphalia will have their next important game: Arminia will be a guest in the hometown of Kniat of Alemannia Aachen (4:30 p.m.). An hour earlier, the guest appearance of the Leverkusen guest at the 1st FC Heidenheim will bestrated in the Bundesliga.
