The 42-year-old man from Deventer who shot a firearm on a 24-year-old woman in Meppel on 11 December could not accept that the relationship had ended. This turned out Tuesday during an introductory session in Assen. He is blamed for attempted murder. It is not yet known when the case will be dealt with in content.
The man shot her in the neck and upper body. She was injured. The man hoped to talk to the woman, he told the judge. But why did he go to her home armed, the judge wondered. “I was threatened before, I had that weapon with me more often for that reason,” the man said.
He found another woman than he was used to, he said. He felt hurt by her attitude. She belittled him about his sexual achievements, his lawyer said. The man is struggling with an earlier accident with erection problems. This is his painful point, the counselor said. The man was therefore apparently triggered. “But he does not want to put the blame with her. He realizes that this is not justified his actions,” said the lawyer.
He is also looking for answers himself, the counselor said. “Mr. is not known as a manipulative and aggressive. There is a broken man for you”. The suspect is still being investigated by a psychologist and a psychiatrist. He will be stuck until the next introductory session on 17 June.
