Dampers for ManCity: Striker Erling Haaland is initially injured. After his injury in the FA Cup game, an update of the Norwegian’s health came up on Monday evening.

Manchester City initially has to do without his top striker in the end of the season: Erling Haaland is injured. As the club announced on Monday evening, the Norwegian in the FA Cup quarter-finals against the AFC Bournemouth (2-1) suffered an injury to the left ankle that had not yet been named.

Haaland had been replaced after 60 minutes. When leaving the stadium, he wore a special shoe and leaned on crutches.

According to the association, initial investigations have already been carried out, further tests with specialists should now provide clarity about the exact extent. However, the medical department of ManCity assumes that “Erling will be fit again in good time in order to be able to play a role during the in the rest of the season, including the club World Cup.”

In the game in Bournemouth, the 24-year-old initially awarded a penalty (14th), but then achieved the equalizer (49.). Shortly afterwards he had to get off the field due to injury. Omar Marmoush, who was substituted by coach Pep Guardiola for Haaland, scored the decisive goal (63.) just two minutes later.

The injury comes at a difficult time for Manchester City. The reigning champion fights for the qualification for the Champions League in the league. The team is currently only in fifth place in the table – each with one point ahead of Newcastle United and Brighton & Hove Albion. In the current Champions League season, Mancity had already failed in the play-off round of Real Madrid.
