Bob Dylan congratulations Tracy chapman Via the social media platform X Sunday for his birthday: “Happy birthday, tracy”, wrote Bob Dylan next to a picture that probably dates from the 1988 tour, where she appeared as a opening up for him. “I hope to see each other again at some point.” Chapman shared the post on her Instagram account. Called him “a birthday message from Zimmy”. And added a heart emoji.
Chapman has always mentioned Dylan as an important influence on her music. She accompanied him in 1988, shortly after the publication of her self -titled debut album with the career -providing hit “Fast Car”. He finally invited her to the stage three times to sing a duet of “Knockin ‘on Heaven’s Door” with her. Including at a performance in Edmonton, Canada, on August 24 of the same year.
At Dylan’s 30th anniversary concert in the Madison Square Garden in 1992, Chapman gave a solo acoustic version of “The Times They Are A-Changin ‘”. Nine years later, Chapman returned to Dylan’s repertoire at a benefit event in New York in 2001. And played the same title and “Gotta Serve somebody”. Dylan’s work remained part of Chapman’s live repertoire until well into the 2000s.
Bob Dylan on X:
Bob Dylan has been very active on social media in recent months. He shared restaurant recommendations, birthday wishes and unexpected music clips. In February he surprised his fans and the artist himself by a video by Machine Gun Kelly from 2016 shared in which he appeared in a record store.
Since Our Bright Future Tracy Chapman has no longer published a studio album from 2008. After she had disappeared from the spotlight for years, she dived at last year’s Grammys. Alone to sing “Fast Car” with Luke Combs, who had made it a country hit. A vinyl edition of her debut for the 35th anniversary will be released on April 4.
