After the home win, Eintracht took third place in the table for at least one night. FSV Mainz 05 can pass back on Sunday with an away win at Borussia Dortmund. For VfB, international business is moving far away after the sixth winless game. With a success in the first game after the announcement of the contract extension of coach Sebastian Hoeneß, the Swabians could have re-established the connection to the European Cup starts.

Hoeneß surprisingly avoided striker Nick Woltemade in the starting eleven, who recently convinced not only at VfB, but also with the U21 national team. “There is no trick behind it. There is only behind it that we also have to be careful about the boy,” Hoeneß said his decision on the Pay TV channel “Sky”.

Even without Woltemade, which was substituted in the second half, VfB began determined in front of 58,000 spectators and with a lot of train forward. After less than 100 seconds, Eintracht goalkeeper Kauã Santos, who represented the injured missing stem keeper Kevin Trapp, was examined for the first time by Jamie Leweling. Stuttgart’s Enzo Millot also grimaced (7th). Shortly thereafter, the home side suddenly cheered, but Frankfurt’s top striker Hugo Ekitiké was offside (13th) before his supposed goal. Eintracht was now better in the game and had several big chances.

VfB clarifies twice in the greatest need – Frankfurt’s usury

Only national player Maximilian Mittelstädt prevented the management of Eintracht by Ansgar Knauff with a giant rescue act, after he had already curved VfB keeper Alexander Nübel (18th). At the subsequent corner, the Stuttgarters clarified a header from Tuta by pingpong from the danger zone. Frankfurt’s coach Dino Toppmöller had to change early because Knauff had injured himself on his great opportunity. It was replaced by Namdi Collins (25th). Eintracht remained more dangerous until half -time, but could not use this.

The Frankfurters also pushed the lead after the change of sides. After an unsuccessful clarification attempt by Nübel, Collins shot the ball from a distance over the gate abandoned by the keeper (50th). In the 56th minute there was also bad luck when Ekitiké hit the post. A few moments later, Al-Dakhil saw red after an emergency brake. But the majority of the Hesse was not really noticeable on the square. Something out of nowhere caused Götze by dusting the lead. Hugo Larsson had previously hit the post. After the deficit, VfB held out properly, but the Swabians no longer equalized.
