The subsidy will be used to tackle, among other things, the roof and supporting structure and to solve problems with rising damp. The total cost of the works is estimated at 249,000 euros. About 40 percent of this is borne by the Immovable Heritage Agency. The rest is borne by the private owner.
After the restoration, the former station will be given a new purpose. There will be a catering business, the former waiting rooms will be rented out as multifunctional spaces and the entrance hall with the historic ticket offices will be furnished as a waiting room for De Lijn bus passengers.
