9-year-old boy rescued after drifting | Inland

The parents were in complete panic and had already searched for 30 minutes on the 25-kilometer beach. Only then did they call in the rescue squad. Because the parents themselves had searched first, the rescue brigade wasted valuable time. Herman Nieuwenhuis, the post commander, told Rijnmond: “Because the parents did not know exactly where they were and had searched for half an hour themselves, we lost valuable time yesterday to determine the correct location. For us, every second counts.”

Fortunately for the parents and the boy, he was rescued from the sea not much later.
