Miley Cyrus’ varied discography indicates her wide range of music. But their cover versions give even deeper insights into their musical background. Here are eight new interpretations – From Songs by Tom Petty, Crowded House, Taylor Swift and others – they protrude.
“Fifteen” with Taylor Swift (2009)
Together with the country pop colleague Taylor Swift, Miley performed “Fifteen” at the 2009 Grammy appearance. She showed her tweegous voice and a mature interpretation while accompanied Swift with counter voices. In the award announcement afterwards, she even presented Swift as her “best friend”.
“Every Rose has it Its Thorn” (2011)
The 1988 Poison Ballad showed the Nashville influences of the Hair Metal band. Cyrus’ first show without her father Billy Ray was a Poison concert. Her version appeared on Can’t Be Tamed in 2010. Live-as with a appearance in Buenos Aires in 2011-she strengthened the “Power” page of this Powerballad.
“Jolene” (2012)
In 2012 Cyrus started her backyard sessions on YouTube. The highlight of the first season was her version of the dolly party classic “Jolene”. With a rougher, soulful voice, she gave the song an intensive urgency.
“Summertime Sadness” (2013)
For BBC Radio 1’s Lounge Lounge Cyrus Lana Del Rey’s melancholic hit “Summertime Sadness” and gave him a new grade with her natural country twang. A small consideration after other artists had previously covered songs by Cyrus’ Bangerz.
“Don’t dream it’s over” with Ariana Grande (2015)
As part of the Backyard Sessions 2015 for her Happy Hippie Foundation Sang Cyrus with Ariana Grande Crowded House ‘classic from 1986. Grandes Luftige soprano and Cyrus’ warm old voice harmonized perfectly in this relaxed, bedroom -like performance.
“Thesis boots are made for walkin” (2017)
With her cheeky reinterpretation of Nancy Sinatra’s Hit from 1966, Cyrus proved that both are not only pop icon daughters, but also have a similar quick-wittedness that gives biting pop songs extra wort.
“Wildflowers” with Billy Ray Cyrus (2017)
After Tom Petty’s death in October 2017, Miley and her father Billy Ray performed the title track from Petty’s 1994 solo album in the Tonight Show. Their version brought a gentle, violin -wired awe into the song.
“See You Again” (2017)
For the 10th anniversary of her first solo hit, Cyrus “See You Again” gave a reduced country note in the live lounge. And reminded of her Hannah Montana period with a wink. Including the iconic “Just Being Miley”.
