Thanks to a strong Henrik Haukelands in goal and an efficient final third, the Düsseldorfer EG opened the sixth game day in the DEL with a win against the Iserlohn Roosters.

the Düsseldorf ground floor played in front of 4,831 spectators on Thursday night against the Iserlohn Roosters 4:1 (1:0, 0:1, 3:0) and won the fourth win of the season.

DEG dominates the initial phase

Two days after the success in Bietigheim DEG got off to a flying start and after 43 seconds took the lead with the first chance. The disc landed via Daniel Fischbuch at Stephen Harper, whose shot was deflected by Iserlohn’s striker Casey Bailey (1st).

Düsseldorf also dominated the initial phase after the early goal. Tobias Eder failed at the post after five minutes, Stephen Macaulay at Iserlohn’s goalie Hannibal Weitzmann (8th).

Towards the end of the first period, the Roosters became bolder, so that DEG keeper Henrik Haukeland had to intervene several times. Iserlohn’s Kaspars Daugavins prevailed in a strong individual action against two men, but then failed at Haukeland (19th).

Iserlohn comes to the deserved compensation

In the middle section, both teams played an open game with chances for both sides. Düsseldorf’s 20-year-old striker Josef Eham failed at Weitzmann (28th), Brent Raedeke on the guest side at Henrik Haukeland (29th).

Iserlohn equalized three minutes before the end of the second period with a counterattack. First, Ryan O’Connor failed after a strong pass from Eugen Alanov to Haukeland. The rebound landed on Sven Ziegler, who only had to push the puck into the goal (37′). In direct return, Hannibal Weitzmann prevented the 1:2 from the guest’s point of view with an outstanding save against Daniel Fischbuch in the Iserlohner Tor.

Josef Eham with the first goal

Iserlohn started the final section outnumbered because Christopher Brown had received a two-minute penalty just a few seconds before the end of the second period. Shortly before the sentence expired, DEG struck cold. After a pass from Harper, Josef Eham scored his first DEL goal (42nd). “I’m happy that it finally worked out,” said the goalscorer at Magenta Sport.

Only a little later Maciej Rutkowski had the 2:2 on the trowel several times. The 19-year-old failed at the post from very close range and then at the strong Haukeland. It went back and forth with chances for both sides. Three minutes before the end, Alexander Barta used an unsuccessful excursion by IEC goalkeeper Weitzmann to make the 3-1 decision. Daniel Fischbuch made it 4-1 on the empty goal (59th).
