A transport ban applies within a radius of 10 kilometers around the company. This means that poultry, eggs, bird manure and litter may not be transported. There are 182 poultry farms in that area, reports the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature.

The mayor of Barneveld, Jacco van der Tak, says he has spoken to the affected chicken farmer. “It goes without saying that I sympathize with the affected poultry farmer and with the other entrepreneurs in the poultry sector who are having a hard time,” Van der Tak said.
The infection in Terschuur is the fourteenth since bird flu reappeared in the Netherlands at the beginning of October. Six of these were in the province of Gelderland. More than 700,000 animals have been culled from the affected farms.
In connection with bird flu, a cage and shielding obligation applies throughout the Netherlands, both for farms and for hobbyists who keep chickens at home.
