5th match day of the Ice Hockey World Championship: USA and Switzerland continue without losing a point

The USA and Switzerland ice hockey teams continue to rush from victory to victory at the World Championships in Finland and Latvia.

The Americans also won their fifth preliminary round game in German Group A 3-0 (0-0, 0-0, 3-0) against Denmark and are leading the table with a maximum of 15 points. Cutter Gauthier (50th minute), Alex Tuch (56th) and Rocco Grimaldi (60th) scored for the USA in the final third in Tampere.

Defending champion and Olympic champion Finland defeated Austria 3-1 (2-1, 0-0, 1-0) and is also in the quarter-finals. The Swedes beat France 4-0 (4-0, 0-0, 0-0).

Switzerland defeated record world champion Canada

Switzerland also continues to rush from victory to victory. The Swiss also won their fifth preliminary round game in Group B 3:2 (0:0, 2:1, 1:1) against record world champions Canada. Nico Hischier (34′), Dario Simion (37′) and Andres Ambühl (53′) scored the goals for Switzerland in Riga.

In Group B, the Czech Republic also beat Norway 2-0 (2-0, 0-0, 0-0). Dominik Kubalik (13th) and Jakub Flek (19th) scored victory in Riga for the twelve-time world champion. Both Switzerland and the Czech Republic are in the quarter-finals.

The hitherto convincing Latvians shot out a smashing victory. There was a 7-0 win against Kazakhstan (2-0, 3-0, 2-0).
