The suspect was arrested this afternoon, the police said. Local residents told NH earlier today that it was the victim’s son-in-law, but the police could not confirm this.
The 58-year-old woman was found seriously injured this morning around 9:30 am in a house on Pinasstraat. Officers tried to resuscitate her, but in vain; the victim died on the spot. A description was soon shared to track down the perpetrator.
‘It’s normally quiet’
Local residents were shocked and affected by the woman’s death. “It is normally quite quiet here. You never see anyone, especially around those few houses,” a local resident told NH as she pointed to the house with red ribbons. Another local resident said: “Once again the victim is a woman. It’s starting to stand out.”
