40 people evacuated after gas leak in Assebroek

The gas leak started around four o’clock this afternoon in the Tramstraat in Assebroek, near Residence Durante. The utility company was quickly on site, but it was immediately clear that the recovery would take several hours.

A safety perimeter has been set up around the leak, forty people have been evacuated as a precaution. “They will be accommodated in a temporary reception center nearby,” says the city of Bruges.

The city has also activated a temporary emergency number: 050/44 80 80. This number is specifically for those who have questions about the incident.
